Conrad Issa Allem, Secretary General of the Federation of clothing and tailoring workers, said that if provincial governments failed to comply with their commitments to implement the new minimum wage of 18000, the workers will strike in August 1st.
Allem said he expressed disappointment at the part of the provincial government's failure to pay the new minimum wage during the consultations.

It is a decisive issue in the labour market, which is a problem that the league has just solved.
An old view is that unless the subsidy for oil is abolished, it is impossible to pay the minimum wage.
The implementation of the new wage structure will ensure that workers' financial benefits can be guaranteed more, thus improving productivity and purchasing power, Allem said.
According to the agreement, the federal government needs to comply with the new requirements.

The minimum wage (Amendment) bill requires close consultation with workers and will be implemented in July 31, 2011.
