In the leather capital of Haining, a low carbon wind is rising in the leather industry.

The green ecological leather industrial park in Haining, located at the foot of Dongshan, Haining, is a professional park for the fixed-point processing of animal fur in Jiaxing. The factory windows are clear, spacious and bright. It is in sharp contrast to the "dirty, bad, bad, Stinky" of the former tannery.

Every May and June, there are even herds of egrets flying to perch.

All these are inseparable from the enterprises in the park advocating the "low-carbon economy".

For example, Zhejiang Fu Di Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. dispatched staff to Italy, Brazil and other countries to check leather industry, learn foreign advanced leather concept and environmental protection treatment system, and adopted advanced hair removal and hair removal methods to reduce emissions of BOD (biological oxygen consumption) and COD (chemical oxygen consumption), using gray liquor and chromium liquid circulation system, so that the discharge of sewage was reduced by 70%.

Haining brothers leather Co., Ltd. is an old factory built in 1980. The original technology and equipment are backward. In order to upgrade and enhance its competitiveness, the company invested 50 million yuan on the basis of the original plant, rearranged and planned all the workshop of the company, optimized the existing tanning process, and conducted advanced treatment of the waste water to achieve cleaner production.

Technical pformation projects mainly involve advanced technologies such as automatic control of mechanical hair removal, no ammonium deashing technology, high absorption chrome tanning technology, soft water recycling technology, quick precipitation of chrome tanning waste liquid, reclaimed water reuse technology, and boiler waste heat reuse.

"Low carbon" helps enterprises

"Low carbon economy is characterized by low energy consumption, low emission and low pollution. It aims to reduce carbon based energy and achieve sustainable development as a means of production and lifestyle."

Xu Yong, vice chairman of China Light Industry Federation and honorary president of China Leather Association, pointed out that the arrival of the low carbon economy era is faced with severe challenges for the traditional leather industry, and is also in the historical opportunity of accelerating the pformation of development mode.

Led by the Haining Leather Research Institute, the "new circular efficient water-saving and clean tanning key technology research and integration demonstration" project, declared by Haining Fu Sheng fur and leather Co., Ltd., won the three prize of the second national leather industry energy conservation and emission reduction environmental protection innovation award last year.

It is estimated that the traditional leather making process requires 160.3 litres of water for processing a piece of leather, and 156.7 liters of waste water. The waste water also contains pollutants such as oil, salt and chromium.

After adopting the new technology, the water consumption of processing a piece of leather is only about 50 litres.

At the same time, the amount of salt and chromium can be reduced by 50% and 20% respectively, and the total absorption rate of chromium is more than 95%.

As a participant of the project, Haining Fu Sheng Leather Co., Ltd., which produces hundreds of thousands of sheets of leather every year, applies this set of water-saving and clean tannery technology to production, with obvious results.

Zhou Yonggen, chairman of the company, said that the biggest feature of the new process is the recycling of water.

While less water is used, it also reduces the discharge of waste water.

Zhou Yonggen has calculated an economic account, calculated with an annual output of 300 thousand pieces of fur. After the technological innovation, the cost of water and sewage treatment can be saved by 158 thousand and 600 yuan.

At the same time, the quality of leather has been effectively improved through the new technology, and its added value has also increased by 1/3, so that the annual output value of enterprises can be increased by about 14000000 yuan.

Low carbon "smile curve"

And in Haining's leather clothing production enterprises, many enterprises have begun to seek "low carbon" way, with the least possible resources for more value.

Their way is to extend to the two sides of the "smile curve", creating new core competitiveness in creativity, design and marketing, and reducing the proportion of traditional manufacturing.
