In May 10th, Vinatex signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation (MOU) in Hanoi and Marubeni Co., Japan, to further the two countries.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by LeTienTruong, the chairman of the Vietnam textile and Garment Group, and KasuhitaYabe, general manager of Marubeni Corp apparel department.

According to LeTienTruong, the memorandum of understanding will help the group expand Japan.

We should promote investment cooperation and provide training and technology pfer for the sustainable development of clothing departments and partners in the two countries.

As a large multi-functional group, Marubeni will soon establish partnership with Vietnam's textile and apparel group members and set up branches to trade in clothing products in Japan.

Statistics from Vietnam textile and apparel group show that Japan is the third largest importer of clothing in Vietnam, with an average annual growth of 20%.

The Vietnam Japan economic partnership agreement came into effect in October 1, 2009. Japan's tariff on Vietnamese clothing products has dropped to zero, creating more favorable conditions for Vietnamese clothing exporters.
