Industrialization has brought rich material civilization to mankind. Organic clothing is a garment that can eliminate pollution, protect the environment, maintain ecological balance, and is harmless and healthy to human body in the whole process of raw material production, processing, utilization and resource recovery. Organic clothing is made of fabrics made of organic fibers. Organic fiber is mainly organic cotton, including organic flax, organic hemp, organic wool and so on.

Organic cotton is an agricultural production. In the fields where chemical fertilizers and pesticides are stopped for more than 3 years, organic fertilizer, biological control of diseases and insect pests, and natural farming management are used. Chemical fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators and other substances are not used. Nor do genetically engineered organisms and their products are used. From seeds to agricultural products, all natural pollution-free cotton production. At present, some children's clothing and underwear manufacturers have attached importance to the use of organic cotton.

Two major international standards

Just as organic food requires organic certification and green certification, organic textile products also need certification to obtain organic identity. At present, the two most important organic certification standards for textiles in the world are OE100standard and GOTS.

OE100standard is an organic cotton certification standard. The purpose of the certification is to ensure textile The content of organic cotton fiber should be made from "100% organic cotton". This standard is a processing standard and is applicable to all processes of textile processing (e.g. cotton gin, spinning, weaving, knitting, garment processing, trade).

OE100standard requires the company to achieve: from passing through organic Authentication The farm buys organic cotton; the product contains at least 95% organic cotton (excipients can only contain 5%); the way of processing cotton should be able to ensure that it can be identified before spinning; the processing and marking of organic cotton's spinning, fabric and finished products can be done at every production step to check the purchase or use of certified organic cotton.

GOTS - GlobalOrganicTextileStandard, translated into Chinese as the global organic textile standard. The standard is an organic textile certification standard formulated by the German International Natural Textile Association (IVN), the Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA), the American Organic Trade Association (OTA) and the British Soil Association (SA). The purpose of the certification is to ensure the standardization of organic textiles from raw materials to processing and final product packaging.

Even if the organic fiber is used as raw material, if the manufacturing process is not thoroughly checked, the product can not become "organic textiles". Dyeing process is the most harmful part of health and environment. It is also the focus of implementing organic textile certification examination. Organic textiles also have strict control standards for the use of chemicals. Heavy metals, formaldehyde, genetically modified enzymes and carcinogenic amines are banned.

GOTS certification has not only standardized technology but also examined social standards. In the standard, workers are free to choose jobs, and they must not force labor or pay debts. Employees mainly respect their freedom of association and give them the right to collective bargaining. To provide a safe and hygienic working environment for employees, living wages can always meet basic needs and provide discretionary income. At the same time, we must not extend working hours, discriminate against employees, and provide formal employment contracts. It is forbidden to treat employees rudely and prohibit the employment of child labor.

Beijing Certification Center is a company specializing in certification of organic products. The company's Marketing Commissioner, yore, told the reporter that "the inspectors will conduct random individual interviews with ordinary employees in accordance with the terms of the standard in the investigation of social standards".

Enterprises that use or intend to use certified organic raw materials can apply for certification of organic textiles when their organic fiber content reaches a certain standard. At present, most enterprises that handle organic textile certification are large textile export enterprises, mainly cotton textile enterprises.

Nowadays, many large foreign garment enterprises and supermarkets require importation of organic certified products.

Enterprises that have obtained the certification of organic textiles must also be subject to the supervision of certification bodies. Yu Le told our reporter that the certification of organic textiles has the relevant requirements for the traceability of every batch of products of the certificated enterprises. Each batch of products requires certification bodies to issue trade certificates, and the trade certificates will clearly identify buyers and sellers, shipping time, transportation records, product quantities, etc., and will not issue trade certificates beyond the number of certification.

China is the only country issuing official organic textile standards. The organic product standard (GB/T19630) was officially released in 2005. It is China's unified organic certification standard for all products. Organic textiles are only part of it. GB/T19630 has not made any request for social responsibility. According to domestic regulations, domestic products can only participate in the certification of "China's organic products" logo, and the standard used is GB/T19630.

However, at present, the domestic organic textile market is not perfect, and consumers do not have a strong understanding of organic textiles. Few domestic textile and garment enterprises have certified Chinese organic products.

Ecological textiles are easily confused with organic textiles. The main concern of eco textiles is that the testing indexes of textile and clothing products can meet the relevant standards. They do not require the toxic and harmful substances used in the growth process of textile animals and plants. They are part of the ecological requirements. Organic textiles not only require the detection of products to reach the standard, but also require the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and other harmful substances in the textile production process, including the growth process of plants, which is a requirement of the whole ecosystem.

In addition, ecological textiles have no requirement for social responsibility, while organic textiles require enterprises to meet the minimum social responsibilities required by standards. Oeko-TexStandard100 is the most widely used textile eco marker now. The Oeko-TexStandard100 is only based on the test results and is part of the ecological requirements.

Just last year, the global recovery standard (GRS) of textile and clothing was formulated by the certification body of the management alliance. The new GRS standard adopted three level system, and the recovery standard of each product was divided into three grades: copper standard, silver standard and gold standard. The highest gold standard requires the product to contain 95%-100% recovery materials. The silver standard product must contain 70%-95% recovery materials, and the copper standard product should contain not less than 30% recycled materials.

All standard products must show the percentage of recovery components, and appropriate gold, silver and copper GRS signs will be attached. According to the generalized clothing ecology theory, organic clothing should be degradable and easy to recycle, and this is not required by GOTS, OE100standard or GB/T19630 at present. The application of GRS is not universal. It is just a green trend.
