There are high end varieties with high price, low end varieties with low strength and even smog toxic. Flame retardant processing of hot-melt fibers can achieve flame retardant, but there are still problems such as droplets, resulting in high-end flame retardant fabrics difficult to promote due to price reasons, and low end products protection effect is not ideal.
In anticipation of the emergence of medium and high performance, medium and low price flame retardant fiber industrial varieties, the use of multi fiber matching method to establish synergy is an effective way to obtain high performance and relatively low cost.
In addition, for a long time, flame retardant fabrics appear in the form of tooling fabrics. They are hard to handle and are not suitable for the use of intermediate management and senior blue collar.
Wool fiber is the most difficult to burn in natural fibers. Blending a part of wool fiber reasonably can provide good flame retardant properties while providing good wool handle style and reduce fabric cost.

Fire will devour many valuable life, so various countries have formulated flame retardant standards and safety standards to varying degrees.
As a flame retardant fabric, cotton fabric is the main market.
In your opinion, what is the market space of wool flame retardant fabric compared with cotton type, where is the selling point?
Shi Meiwu: flame retardant fabrics can be divided into two categories.
One is the finishing flame retardant fabric made from flame retardant finishing agent.
The other one is flame retardant fabric, which is mainly made from flame retardant fibers.
Of course, some of the flame retardant fibers can be made from another part of ordinary fibers to make flame retardant finishing, but at least there is unnecessary duplication of processing for the flame retardant fibers, which will cause waste or even damage the fibers.
For finishing flame retardant fabrics, they are usually not used as high-end products because of their limited washing times, poor hand feel, low strength, especially low tear strength.
As cotton and polyester cotton products have relatively mature flame retardant processing technology, and the cost of base cloth is low, cotton flame retardant fabrics are the mainstream of flame retardant products. As decorative textiles, they are widely used in mines, hairdryer and public places such as wall cloth, and some are used as lower end tooling fabrics.
It should be said that the cotton flame retardant fabric is the main body of the market in terms of quantity.
But there are other occasions where more high-end flame retardants are needed.
For example, there are flame retardant requirements of professional clothing, requiring flame retardant performance, strength, appearance and feel style is good, this time we should use flame retardant fiber, and use a part of wool fiber to optimize the feel and comfort of wool type flame retardant fabric.
Because of the partial use of wool fiber, it can make use of the advantages of non combustible, moisture absorption, comfort and good elasticity of wool fibers to improve the grade of flame retardant fabrics, change the pattern of low-grade use of traditional flame retardant fabrics, and make protective clothing also have good appearance style and comfortable performance.

Two types of fibers constitute flame retardancy.
Host: what kind of fibers do you need to make wool type flame retardant fabric besides wool, you can make it both comfortable and wearable, and also have excellent flame retardant properties.
Shi Meiwu: Although the specific ratio of fiber blending should be determined according to the user's flame-retardant index, price positioning and other factors, in principle, the first category is to use flame retardant fibers with good flame retardant properties to provide basic flame retardancy and complete sexual properties after burning. This kind of fiber can be selected from domestic aramid, domestic polysulfonamide and domestic poly (two) azole fiber (Bao Deguan) and other varieties.
The second type of fibers should be used to reduce costs and improve fabric comfort. The most typical one is the domestic flame retardant viscose fiber, which is cheaper.
But the strength of the flame retardant viscose is not high. If the user needs the high strength of the fabric, some high-strength flame retardant vinylon can be added, the strength can reach 7.5cN/dtex, which can alleviate the problem of the low strength of the flame retardant viscose.
For wool, 20% to 30% fiber ratio can be used, and good flame retardancy can still be maintained.
Experiments have shown that under the similar system, 25% ordinary wool without flame retardant finishing can keep the continuous combustion and smouldering time for 0 seconds.
Because these fibers have different flame retardant mechanisms, combined use can produce synergistic effects under different flame retardant mechanisms and achieve good flame retardancy.
And because the second kinds of fibers are much cheaper than the first type fibers, the final products will have a very good performance price ratio.
Host: what kind of technology can make wool and flame retardant make flame retardant?
Shi Meiwu: the mixture of wool and other fibers can be used in textile processing with general ring spinning, siro spinning, compact spinning and other blending methods, without special requirements.
We are also studying the yarn structure of different components at different locations, but there is no obvious difference.
The formation of good flame retardant properties of the final fabrics depends mainly on the different flame retardant mechanisms of these fibers.
Some modified flame retardant fibers are heated to release non combustible gases, which play a role in shielding flammable gases and isolating oxygen. Some of them play a role in thermal insulation or suppression of combustion reactions after burning. Some fibers do not burn themselves and form skeletons through carbonization.
If these different flame retardant mechanisms are well matched, they can achieve good flame retardancy under the condition of low price flame retardant fiber and some ordinary fibers.
More than 20% of wool can achieve ideal results.
Moderator: how much wool can be used to produce the ideal flame retardant fabric?
Shi Meiwu: for ordinary textiles, wool is a relatively expensive fiber material.
But for flame-retardant textiles, high performance flame-retardant fibers are far more expensive than wool. Especially as flame retardant and flame retardant garments, thin thin fabrics will not be used with special fine wool. The wool used for making heavy weight fabrics is usually of medium degree of fineness, which is more expensive than domestic flame retardant viscose, but cheaper than domestic aramid and polysulfonamide.
Therefore, the purpose of wool is to reduce the cost of flame-retardant fabrics.
If you want to use more wool to reduce costs, wool can account for about 30%. The finished products will have good wool fabric feel and flame retardancy in the middle and high grade. If you want to achieve better safety and require a high flame retardant performance, you can use 20% wool.
Moderator: in the domestic and foreign markets, which standards can be achieved, it can be called flame retardant fabric?
Shi Meiwu: at present, the standard of China's flame retardant fabric is GB/T 17591-2006, which contains fabrics of different uses, such as upholstery fabrics, aircraft, automobile / steamboat and other interior textiles, flame-retardant protective clothing fabrics, etc.
For flame-retardant protective clothing, the flammability requirement is continuous combustion and smoldering time not greater than 5 seconds, the damage length is not greater than 15 cm, and there is no molten drop phenomenon.
This fabric can meet the requirements of flame retardant fabric, and it can be considered as flame retardant fabric.
China's protective clothing (flame-retardant clothing) standard GB8965.1-2009 flame retardant properties of fabrics are divided into A, B and C three stalls, a level requires continuous combustion and smoldering time are less than 2 seconds, the damage length is not greater than 5 cm; B level requires continuous combustion and smoldering time are less than 2 seconds, the damage length is not greater than 10 cm; C level requires continuous combustion and smoldering time are less than 5 seconds, the loss length is not greater than 15 centimeters.
No melting drops are allowed in the 3 grades; for class a flame-retardant fabrics, thermal protection coefficient is also required.
There are many foreign standards, which are more stringent, and other special testing methods that are closer to the actual use state.
But in general, the flame retardant requirements of the flame retardant protective clothing standard are similar.
Compared with high-end products, the cost can be saved by 15 thousand yuan.
Host: will there be any change in the cost of producing woolen flame retardant fabrics?
Shi Meiwu: for the production of low-grade flame-retardant products, adding wool is not appropriate; for high-grade flame retardant products, such as the original use of aramid 93%, para aramid 5%, conductive short fiber 2% typical formula, the domestic aramid price is about 130 thousand yuan / ton, reducing 20% of aramid, and the price is about 50 thousand to 60 thousand yuan / ton of 58~60 Australian wool self combing strip, the cost per ton of fiber can save more than 15 thousand yuan.
If it is a formula of aramid 50% and flame retardant viscose 50%, equivalent to 20% of the aramid can be replaced by ordinary wool with the price similar to that of flame retardant viscose, and the cost of the fiber can also save about 15 thousand yuan per ton.
Of course, the specific formula should be designed according to the specific performance requirements of users.
