Yang Shibin, Deputy Secretary General of China Textile Industry Association and chairman of China knitwear industry association, summarized the economic operation of the knitting industry in the first half of the year: Sales accelerated and declined, and the growth of domestic clothing sales was faster than the total retail sales nationwide, and faster than the growth rate of textiles. The performance of knitted apparel was acceptable. The polarization of enterprises became more and more obvious. The level of financing, market rapid reaction and industrial matching ability decided the enterprises to enter a virtuous circle or be eliminated, and the industrial clusters were accelerated.

In the economic development trend, Yang Shibin predicts that by the end of the year, the export amount may change by between 3% and the domestic market will increase. However, the situation of the whole industry is still grim; production output will not drop too much; the industrial pfer will continue; the pace of pferring the capacity of the eastern developed areas to Henan, Hebei, Anhui, Jiangxi and other places will not stop; cluster docking will continue to strengthen; the momentum of strong alliance among enterprises will emerge, and the phenomenon of corporate restructuring will become more frequent.

In the absence of export sales, the growth of domestic sales has given people strong confidence.

It is believed that the national development and Reform Commission is promoting the process of population urbanization with relevant departments, which provides an opportunity for the knitted apparel industry to expand its domestic sales.

From the international experience, when the average income per capita is 3000 US dollars, the average urbanization rate is around 55%, which is about 75% in densely populated east Asia.

According to the blue book published by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, by the end of 2008, China's urban population had exceeded 600 million and the urbanization rate was 45.7%.

At present, there are 140 million migrant workers in rural areas and cities in China. If these people are urbanized, there is great potential for expanding consumption demand.

In Yang Shibin's view, its pulling effect on the textile and garment industry even exceeds the country's investment of 4 trillion yuan.

In the process, Yang Shibin believes that there are several issues worth paying attention to.

First, the financing problem. This is a common problem faced by large, medium and small enterprises. Because of the difficulty of financing and the depression of the economic environment, many enterprises are hovering on the edge of suspension of production and bankruptcy.

Second, the polarization of enterprises has intensified. This year, due to the double squeeze of upstream raw material prices and the price of terminal products, the garment production enterprises have been struggling for a long time. At present, the profit margin of 2/3 has dropped to below -0.14%, and this part of enterprises has made great contributions to solve the social employment problem.

Third, the construction of the industrial chain. Extending the industrial chain is not only the need for rapid industrial response, but also the symbol of industrial upgrading.

In view of the difficulties and problems exposed in the economic development of the industry, Yang Shibin put forward some suggestions.

First of all, in the field of foreign trade, enterprises should let prices not allow the market, and encourage foreign trade enterprises to easily turn to domestic sales, but should stick to it and wait for economic recovery.

Because once the market is handed over, it is not easy to recover.

Despite the downward trend of exports this year, there has been a positive signal, for example, the market share of Chinese knitted apparel in the United States has increased by 1%, and the number of exports to the United States has increased by 55%.

Border trade in Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Guangxi and other provinces has also increased. Cross border trade RMB settlement helps enterprises avoid exchange rate risks.

In addition, export enterprises should pay close attention to the developed economies. Although the developed economies led by the United States are the cradles of the financial crisis, their economic decline is less than that of developing economies.

Secondly, enterprises should strive to change the product mix structure and improve the ability of quick response as soon as possible so as to improve bargaining power.

In the first half of this year, the export volume of cotton and chemical fiber knitted garments decreased, and prices increased. The number of wool knitted garments was just the opposite. The number of exports increased by 42% and the price dropped by 17%.

Therefore, it is particularly necessary to readjust the product structure, extend the industrial chain and enhance the rapid response.
