    When Leaders Are &Nbsp, Not Leaders.

    Leadership Position

    Yes Leader The biggest misunderstanding is the equality between leadership and position. This is true at home and abroad, but the reason why China is so special is that it is very simple. In modern Chinese, the most popular usage of the word "leadership" refers to the person who holds the position of leadership. Many people believe that: (1) leadership is a need for leadership positions; (2) leadership is the only way to play a leading role; (3) being able to assume leadership positions is a proof of leadership; (4) because of their leadership positions, others will obey their leadership.

    In fact, as I said in the article "leadership is like love": leadership Just like love, leadership positions are like marriage. Marriage and love are related, but marriage does not necessarily have love. Leaders in leadership positions do not necessarily have leadership; love does not necessarily have marriages; people who really play leadership are not necessarily the ones who assume leadership positions; sometimes, marriage is the grave of love leadership positions can be a barrier to leadership.

    The more accurate way of leadership should be "leadership". We are called leaders in leadership positions; leaders in real leadership activities are called leaders. Leaders have subordinates, and leaders have followers; leaders use power, while leaders use influence; leaders are content with the status quo, maintain order, and leaders keep pace with the times, welcome change; leaders pursue status, while leaders pursue achievements; leaders issue orders, say "give me up", while leaders set an example, say "follow me"; leaders grasp power, make themselves great, and leaders empower, make everyone great.

    The long march is a perfect case for distinguishing leaders from leaders. Who was the supreme leader of the long march? Before the Zunyi conference, he was the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. After the Zunyi Conference (more accurately the Zahi meeting immediately after the Zunyi Conference), Zhang Wentian, the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, was the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. However, Mr Bo is not the leader, though he is the highest leader. He has failed to bring his leadership into full play and almost brought the Chinese revolution to a corner. Even Mao Zedong, who did not enter the core decision-making level of the CPC Central Committee, successfully promoted the convening of the Zunyi conference and reversed the situation of the Chinese revolution. In the next eight years, although Zhang Wentian was the general secretary, Mao Zedong actually played the role of a leader. {page_break}

    Improper leadership can be the best. leader

       So is Mao Zedong in the long march. When it comes to the highest leadership, it is also necessary to be a leader -- Li Jiacheng, a Hongkong entrepreneur. Li Jiacheng called the difference between the boss and the leader: "I often ask myself, do you want to be the boss of the team or the leader of a team? Generally speaking, being a boss is much simpler. Your power comes mainly from your position, which can be derived from heaven's fate or your strength and professional knowledge. Being a leader is more complicated. Your strength comes from the charm and appeal of human nature. To be a successful manager, attitude is as important as ability. Leaders lead people, motivate others to be willing to work hard; bosses only know how to dominate and make others feel small.

    Of course, leadership is not entirely related to leadership positions. In the workshop of "the eight discipline of leadership", I would ask the manager who participated in training: what is the connection between leadership and leadership positions? They will generally reply: "leadership positions can provide a better platform for leadership." The answer is right, but incomplete. Indeed, leadership positions can be a help in leadership. Having a leadership position means that you have more organizational resources to play leadership. Mao Zedong was elected as the Standing Committee of the Politburo at the Zunyi conference. For the first time, he entered the core decision-making level of the CPC Central Committee, which is also a key resource for him to play a leading role.

    The biggest challenge is to be a leader, not a leader.

    But there are at least two other points between leadership and leadership positions. First of all, assuming a leadership position means you have the responsibility to play leadership. The so-called leadership position, in fact, can also be called management position, that is, a post in a hierarchical organization, often requires you to engage in three activities: handling, management and leadership. To put it simply, handling is doing things according to rules, management is doing things right, and leadership is doing the right thing. In a hierarchical organization, the higher the position is, the greater the responsibility for leadership. That is to say, when leaders have to be leaders, they are duty bound, otherwise the consequences will be very serious.

    However, leadership positions will become a barrier to leadership in many cases. This is similar to the fact that marriage is the grave of love, but few managers are aware of this. Although leaders in leadership positions are responsible for three kinds of activities, most of the time they are engaged in management activities. Management activities use existing knowledge to solve technical problems. Leadership activities are new ways of learning and solve problems without ready answers. A leader often makes such a mistake: because he has the authority of his position, he thinks he has the answers to all the questions, leading to the treatment of difficult problems as technical problems. So is Bo Gu: the Chinese revolution is a difficult problem. But as a technical problem, blogger thinks that he has a ready answer -- the mode of Russian Revolution, which makes his official authority obstruct the exertion of leadership.

    The biggest challenge facing every manager and every leader is to be a leader, not a leader.
