    Gu Wenxia's master's double faced embroidery "white cat Mantis", Jiang Xueying's single embroidered "deep fog", Yu Fuzhen's master's "real white bottom white cat diagram", Zhang Yuying's master's unilateral embroidery "Da Vinci" and Wang Jinshan master's silk "Camellia butterfly diagram" donated to Suzhou Museum Museum permanent collection.


    The "Suzhou embroidery art masters Exhibition" shows 46 Works of Suzhou embroidery master and their successors, including 35 pieces of 8 exquisite embroidery works by Su embroidery, Li Eying, Yu Fuzhen, Zhang Yuying, Gu Wenxia, Xu Shaoqing, Yin Lianjun, Jiang Xueying, and so on.

    All the national master craftsman are representative figures of Su embroidery, who came out of Suzhou embroidery in 50 and 60s in twentieth Century.

    The works of so many Suzhou embroidery masters can be exhibited together, and the opportunity is rare. It is a rare event in Suzhou embroidery.



    Yu Fuzhen's embroidered work "red sofa sofa"


    At the age of 17, he began to embroider, and was taught by Gu Wenxia, Yu Fuzhen, who was nicknamed "Elvis Presley" because he was good at embroidering cats.

    In the exhibition hall, she briefed reporters on the "red double sofa" with watershed significance.

    This work was created in 1982 and lasted for half a year.

    Because of the innovative use of the combination of fine embroidery and needlework, the work is more vivid and realistic, especially the double cat fur is full of soft and luster texture.

    Yu Fuzhen believes that Suzhou embroidery should be better inherited and promoted. It is not enough to rely on a few masters. She hopes that more "Embroiders" can really create embroidery from the perspective of art, enhance their cultural and artistic attainments, break the "bottleneck" of copying, and go out of the new road of Suzhou embroidery.


    As one of the four major embroidery art schools in China, Suzhou embroidery has a long history.

    In 1956, 4 pieces of embroidery in the Song Dynasty, excavated in Huqiu tower, Suzhou, were able to use flat needle and needle in stitch. This is the earliest kind of Suzhou embroidery found.

    After the Song Dynasty, Suzhou embroidery became more and more mature, and entered the heyday of Suzhou embroidery in the Qing Dynasty.

    In the late Qing Dynasty, the "double embroidery", the "simulation embroidery" created by Shen Yunzhi in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and the "needlepoint embroidery" created by Yang Shouyu in the early 1930s, enriched and improved the expressive power and unique charm of Suzhou embroidery art.

    After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Suzhou embroidery was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, and many embroidery masters were identified as the representative successors of national intangible cultural heritage projects.

    Today, Suzhou embroidery has become one of the most attractive handicrafts in Chinese arts and crafts garden.

    The Suzhou museum holds the exhibition of Suzhou embroidery masters' art, aiming at carrying forward the fine traditional culture of the Chinese nation and arousing people's pursuit of the true meaning of Suzhou embroidery art, so that the "Oriental Art pearl" of Su embroidery is more dazzling.
