Upgrading Design Level From Fabric Designer

"The top ten designers of textile fabrics and advanced designers of textile fabrics in 2010" have been launched. The textile and clothing Weekly has interviewed the deputy director of the China Textile Information Center and Fu Guangwei, director of the China Textile Industry Association's testing center.

Textile and clothing weekly: what is the current situation of China's textile fabric designers? What are the different development processes of fabrics in China compared with foreign countries? What aspects do we need to improve?

Fu Guangwei: China's textile fabric designer qualification was released in April 2007 by the China Textile Information Center and the national product development center, which was recommended by the Ministry of labor and social security.

At that time, textile designers and fashion designers wanted to participate in the selection.

In the past, fabric development in China was faced with the problem of decoupling fabric design from garment design. Fabric design and clothing design became two independent fields, and the latter led the former, and the fashion designer put forward ideas to let fabric designers develop the fabric they needed.

In foreign countries, it is just the reverse design that leads to garment design, and there are differences between domestic and foreign enterprises in the concept of fabric development.

Domestic fabric development mode will lead to excessive development and waste of fabrics, such as soybean fiber, cashmere like soft handle, silky soft luster, but in the process of making garments, there will be fabric pilling after dyeing, which requires clothing designers to understand fiber and fabric properties.

We advocate that clothing design should start with understanding the fabric design and development, and design clothing from the source.

"Textile and clothing weekly": in the process of fabric development, what is the relationship between the fabric designer and the fashion designer? In what direction should we develop in the future?

Fu Guangwei: compared with foreign fabrics, the quality of domestic fabrics is not bad, but there is a big gap between the fabric design level.

If we want to further improve the domestic fabric level, the fabric designer should take into consideration the factors such as texture, handle and color of the fabric when developing the fabric. Foreign fabric designers do the work of the fashion designer to some extent.

In the future, fabric designers will play an increasingly important role in industrial upgrading and will take part in all aspects of the entire textile and garment manufacturing chain.

You know, the process of converting fibers into fabrics is very complicated, and fabric designers have much less room for creative imagination than textile designers, so textile designers have great potential value.

Textile and clothing weekly: what is the background of the selection of the top ten textile designers and textile designers in 2010? What kind of background is it? What is the purpose of the selection?

Fu Guangwei: in the past, the state has attached importance to the fabric design industry, but the degree of attention is not enough. Many enterprises use fabric research and development personnel instead of fabric designers.

When the China Textile Industry Association declared the evaluation of textile fabric designers' professional qualification in 2007, the qualification of textile fabric designers was rapidly launched in the industry.

We have done a lot of training for textile designers. In order to attract more people in the industry to attach importance to fabric designers, we launched the selection of textile designers according to the selection criteria of fashion designers.

The purpose of our selection is to enhance the influence of textile designers through the selection, so that they can have a higher position in the industry and realize their own value.

From an industrial point of view, this will indirectly enhance the design level of textile fabrics, promote the development of fabric creative industry, and improve the two contribution rates of technology and brand in the industry.

Textile and clothing weekly: what is the progress of this activity? Can you give a brief introduction?

Fu Guangwei: the reason why we have chosen this activity is that the designers of textile fabrics are not as neglected as they were in the past few years. Since the announcement, a large number of textile and garment enterprises have participated in this activity, and have filled in the registration materials. All departments and leaders of the China Textile Industry Association have attached great importance to this activity.

We plan to win the "top ten" honours every two years, and all of them will receive the award in Beijing. We will announce the winners and the winners by the end of this year.

In the future, we may make a static display at the fabric exhibition, and recommend the winning works to the industry and society.
