Health care textiles can make traditional textiles break through from the low value-added trap.

At present, the average profit rate of China's textile industry is only about 3.97%, and the average profit margin of Enterprises above Designated Size 2/3 is only 0.36%.

Therefore, although the scale of the industry is large, it can not afford to stir up trouble.

But on the contrary, health care functional textile products can meet consumers' health needs, have certain scientific and technological content and practical value, and so on, and decide their high added value. The general profit margins of enterprises are between 15% and 50%.

As Du Yuzhou, President of the China Textile Industry Association, clearly stated in his "contribution rate of science and technology", health textiles will become an important development direction of the textile industry.

With the rapid development of economy, the per capita income of our country has reached US $3000, and people's living standard and quality of life have been continuously improved. The growing demand for health has ushered in the golden age of consumption, and healthy consumption is unstoppable.

However, the development of health care functional textiles in China has lasted for more than ten years since the 90s of last century, and the pition from disorderly development to consolidation stage is now in progress.

Its characteristics are: rapid development, strong demand for consumption, industry integration, expectation of standardized development, lack of management, lack of standards, uneven product quality and technical level, exaggerated publicity and confusion of price system.

At present, the health function textiles sold on the market claim more than 10 functions of far-infrared, antibacterial, magnetic, negative ions, radiation protection, anti thrombosis and anti varicose veins.

But so far, our country has formulated the association standard for far infrared health care function, magnetic health function, antibacterial and health care function.

The Chinese health care association, the China Association for standardization and the China knitwear industry association are currently developing standards for health protection textiles, such as electromagnetic radiation, negative ions and anti thrombosis, and strive to be completed by the end of this year.

At present, the health care functional textiles as the edge of the textile industry have already become the clue of the mainstream industry.

According to the experts' prediction, the health care function textile industry will continue to maintain a growth rate of over 20% for a considerable period of time. At least in the expected 10 or 20 years, this trend will not weaken.

Therefore, by 2015, the industry is expected to reach the scale of 200 billion yuan, and gradually adjust and pform the traditional textile industry with large yield, high labor costs, excess productivity and lack of competitiveness in the industry to become a high value-added industry with core competitiveness.
