    The International Federation of textile manufacturers reported that a strong rebound in global yarn and fabric production could be seen. Production fell to a trough in the first quarter of 2009, and the downward trend of production ended in the first quarter of 2010.

    Compared with the fourth quarter of 2009, the output of yarn and fabric decreased significantly, but it remained at a fairly high level compared with the first quarter of 2009.

    Asia's yarn and fabric output declined particularly, but European output also declined, while in North America and South America, output was stable or increased in the previous quarter.

    The decrease in global yarn was mainly due to a decrease in inventory in South America, while stocks in other regions remained almost unchanged.

    The increase in global fabric inventories is due to an increase in inventories in Asia and South America and a slight increase in European inventories.

    South American yarn orders have increased, but Europe remains unchanged.

    Orders for European fabrics increased and South America grew significantly.


    In the first quarter of 2010, world yarn production decreased by -12.8% compared with the previous quarter.

    The main reason is China's reduction (-17.5%).

    Europe also reduced -4.0%, while North America and South America increased by + 5. 1% and + 17. 4% respectively.
