Cameroon'S Exports Of T-Shirts In The United States Increased Sharply
In order to expand Cameroon's export to the United States and create more job opportunities, the Cameroon government has set up a Agoa resource enhancement center in Douala recently. The centre will employ trade experts to help Cameroon enterprises export commodities to the US.
It is understood that Cameroon's exports to the United States are mainly fuels and T-shirts that have grown substantially in recent exports.
According to Mr. E, President of the Cameroon chamber of Commerce and industry, Cameroon's slow growth in exports to the United States is due to the long distance and high freight rate, especially the high air freight rate, which restricts the export of Cameroon's agricultural products to the United States.
He believes that the kharma government should introduce policies to encourage exports and set up a number of departments and customs joint committees to promote the export of Cameroon products and increase the added value of their products.
According to statistics, Cameroon exported to US $268 million in 2009, while US exports to Cameroon increased by 25%.
