It is understood that the standard is mainly aimed at the characteristics of infants and young children in pulling clothes and biting clothes, and has formulated mandatory provisions specifically for the protection of infant safety, such as the size of the collar, the unfastener of the zipper, the length and strength of the rope and the residue of heavy metals.

The standard first specified the quantitative indicators. The content of extractable heavy metals in infant clothing and clothing can not exceed 0.2 mg per kilogram, and copper should not exceed 25 mg per kilogram. The formaldehyde content most concerned by parents must be less than or equal to 20 mg per kilogram.

Considering that infants' skin is more delicate than adults, the standard limits the pH value between 4 and 7.5, and prohibits the decomposition of aromatic amine dyes, and no peculiar smell exists. In addition, the "standards" also stressed that because dry cleaners may contain substances that stimulate infants and young children's skin, infant clothing must be marked "not dry cleaned" on the label.

Dongguan inspection and Quarantine Bureau official pointed out that infant clothing is different from other categories of clothing, the first thing to consider is the safety factor, safety standards are the top priority of infant clothing business.

It is reported that at present, there are hundreds of manufacturers of infant clothing in Dongguan, and about more than 80 of them have export business (about 14 specialized in making infant clothing). In the first half of this year, the export volume is more than 15 million dollars. Yong Lian weaving, Tianxiang, Hui Mei, Jin Yuan and Fucheng are all well-known enterprises in the foreign trade industry.
