If the price of new seed cotton is flat this year, cotton farmers will not profit at all.

It is understood that the average cotton yield per mu in our province reached 77.5 kg last year, and the comprehensive quality has reached or near the international medium quality level, especially in the world with better color, strength, length and uniformity.

However, the quality of cotton is not promoted by quality zoning, and the small scale planting, low degree of organization and variety of one household cause the poor homogeneity of cotton. In addition, the domestic cotton "three silk" content is high and the price is higher than that of the international market, which has affected the cotton textile enterprises' enthusiasm for making domestic cotton.

When it comes to raising the yield per unit area, Geng Shuping said that if there are new measures on good seeds and good laws, the cotton yield per person in the province can exceed 90 kilograms, which will guarantee 2/3 of cotton consumption in the province.

Provincial Cotton Association therefore suggested that we should continue to increase investment in cotton technology and form a long-term mechanism.

We will support and encourage research institutes, tertiary institutions and social forces to develop new varieties and technologies, and promote new breakthroughs in cotton yield per unit area in our province, so as to provide a strong resource guarantee for the textile industry.

Hebei Cotton Association also suggested that we should increase the subsidy for improved varieties, especially for the cotton producing areas with high and stable yield, raise the subsidy standard, expand the subsidy scope, and realize the regionalization of the fine varieties in the main cotton producing area in 3-5 years.

At the same time, we should improve the subsidy for improved varieties, and let the farmers get tangible benefits through the cross regional market competition of cotton seed production and processing enterprises.
