Bangladesh'S Textile Exports Increased By 13.4% In November

Bangladesh's Export Promotion Committee reported on Monday that sales of Bangladesh clothing and other textile exports in November jumped 13.4% from a year earlier to $1 billion 297 million.

In the first 5 months of the fiscal year 2008-09 (July November), the export and export business grew by 26.8% to $6 billion 550 million.

During this period, the export of knitted fabrics increased 35% to 2 billion 700 million US dollars, and the export of woven garments increased 25% to 2 billion 300 million US dollars.

In the fiscal year 2007/08, exports reached a record high of $14 billion 110 million, of which nearly $10 billion 700 million was earned from garments.

Bangladesh's export target is to export US $16 billion 298 million by June 2009.

Among them, knitted apparel target was $6 billion 580 million, an increase of 19% over the same period last year.

The goal of woven garments exports is 5 billion 680 million US dollars, an increase of 10%.

Exporters say many foreign buyers are now pouring into Bengal to buy low-end textile products, because the major markets are hit by the global financial crisis, such as the United States and the European Union, so they are looking for cheaper products.
