Jeans Exports Become "Meritorious Service", Shunde Clothing Exports Record Last Year

In July 31st this year, the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation jointly issued a notice on adjusting the export tax rebate rate for textile and garment products, raising the export tax rebate rate of some textiles and clothing from 11% to 13%.

"The increase in tax rate is expected to increase profits of Shunde enterprises by more than 60 million yuan per year, which will play a positive role in enhancing the confidence of Shunde's garment exporters." the responsible person said, but in the long run, the way out for the garment industry is to accelerate the pformation from "regulation oriented" to "efficiency oriented", from quantity expansion to quality improvement and international competitiveness upgrading.

The person in charge suggested that if enterprises want to maintain exports, first of all, we should increase investment in science and technology and product innovation, and gradually change from simple clothing manufacturing to clothing design and brand management, and increase the added value of products. Secondly, enterprises should not stick to single export channels, vigorously develop new markets such as central and eastern Russia, and diversify sales channels, which can not only improve the ability of enterprises to adapt to changes in the operating environment, but also enhance their ability to resist operational risks.

In the case of a 30% drop in clothing exports in the whole province, Shunde's clothing exports continued to grow.

"The export situation of garment industry has been very severe since the beginning of this year. In the first half of the year, the province has put the price down to nearly 30%," said the head of the Foshan customs. Under the overall downturn of the garment industry, Shunde's clothing exports have become a thriving company. In this year, 1~7 exported more than 200 million garments, an increase of 7.3% over the same period last year.

The official said that although the export growth of clothing in Shunde has dropped somewhat, but in the case of the decline in the apparel industry's exports, it can continue to maintain export growth momentum. It is already very difficult, and at present, exports have resumed growth. In the month of July, Shunde exported clothing 50 million 250 thousand US dollars, and the growth rate accelerated by 14% over the same period last year.

The European Union and the United States remain Shunde's main export markets for clothing.

Status quo: general trade exports dominate.

Since the beginning of this year, the main feature of Shunde's clothing exports is that the general trade mode has dominated the export. Both export volume and export growth have exceeded processing trade.

"In the current situation of cold clothing export, the small processing trade enterprises are the first ones to fail." according to the analysis of the industry, the profits of the processing trade enterprises which rely on cheap labor to earn a small processing fee are squeezed out because of the rising cost of raw materials and the increasing cost of labor.

"The continued growth of clothing exports is related to the production level and composition of the garment industry in Shunde". According to the analysis of the industry, non knitted fabric clothing has become the main driving force for export. The export of knitted garments in Shunde has reached 100 million US dollars, not only increasing but dropping by nearly one percentage point, while the non knitting fabric garments exported for the same period increased by 240 million, up 16.9%, much higher than that of the same period in the same period.

Jeans, swimsuits, T-shirts and baby garments are the main export varieties.

Jeans have successfully opened up the huge clothing market in Europe and America for Shunde, and laid a solid foundation for export growth.
