In 2010, the business income of the whole industry will reach 14.8 billion US dollars, 22.5 billion US dollars in 2015, and 31 billion US dollars in 2020. Vietnam plans to become one of the top five garment and textile producers in the world in 2015.

It is reported that in the first half of this year, Vietnam exported 4.2 billion dollars of clothing and textiles, including 2 billion dollars of exports to the United States. It plans to export 9.5 billion US dollars and 5.5 billion US dollars to the United States. The United States is Vietnam's largest apparel and textile export market, followed by the European Union and Japan. At present, Vietnam's garment and textile production is dominated by foreign-funded enterprises, accounting for 75%, private and joint-stock enterprises accounting for 25%, and state-owned enterprises accounting for 5%.
