EU Regulations And Standards On Eco Textiles

EU Regulations And Standards On Eco Textiles.

In recent years, the EU has implemented strict protective measures against textiles, and has put forward more and more stringent ecological and social responsibilities. Laws and regulations including banned dyes and other chemicals have been launched, and all the members of the European Union have been unified.

The EU is one of the main markets for textile exports in Zhejiang province. Therefore, it is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of the EU's information about the ecological textiles regulations and technical standards.

    1, EU 67/648EC directive

In 1997, the EU issued the 67/648EC directive. It is an EU law prohibiting the use of azo dyes that can lyse and release some carcinogenic aromatic amines in textiles and leather products.

Unlike the German government's regulations, anamine and aminoazobenzene were added to 22 carcinogenic aromatic amines.

    2, EU 2001/C96E/18 directive

The EU issued the 2001/C96E/18 directive in March 27, 2001, which further specified the textiles contained in the control area.

The directive also provides for the testing of three banned dyes. The detection rate of carcinogenic aromatic amines should not exceed 30mg/kg.

The three detection methods are: 35LMBGB82.02-2-1998 (textile daily necessities), B82.02-3-1997 (leather), B82.02-4-1998 (polyester).

The directive contains only 21 kinds of carcinogenic aromatic amine minus p-aminobenzene.

    3, EU 2002/61/EC directive

In July 19, 2002, the European Union issued the 2002/61/EC directive to reinsert aminazobenzene into carcinogenic aromatic amines, and evaluated its testing methods. It reiterated that the maximum limit of carcinogenic aromatic amines was 30mg/kg, and banned azo dyes began in September 11, 2003 in all Member States.

    4, EU 2003/3/EC directive

In January 6, 2003, the EU issued the 2003/3/EC directive, reiterated the 67/648/EC and 2001/C96E/18 decrees, and banned a blue coloring agent for textiles and leather products. The blue coloring agent is a mixture of two acid metal complex dyes, which are divided into: 611-070-00-2 and EC.NO.405-665-4; the former is CAS.NO118685-33-0.

The European Union's act on suspected banned dyes for carcinogenic aromatic amines lags behind German government regulations and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 standards.

According to the current situation, the ban on suspected dyes has been carried out in the international textile trade. Therefore, banning azo dyes containing carcinogenic aromatic amines has become a global action.

5, the European eco label Eco-Label

The European Union's eco labelling was established by the EU law enforcement Commission under the 880/92 act.

The application of the label is purely voluntary. The company hopes to raise public awareness of environmental protection, so as to cultivate its own market, and others to enhance the visibility of its products.

The earliest textile standard Eco-Label was established in accordance with the 1999/178/EC act of the European Commission in February 17, 1992.

In May 15, 2002, the European Union issued a new standard for determining the ecological standards of textiles.

It is divided into three main categories, namely, textile fiber standards, textile processing and chemical standards, and the applicability of the standards.

The new standard has made a clear new regulation on prohibited and restricted use of textile chemicals, namely textile dyestuffs and textile auxiliaries. The prohibition and restriction of use are wider than the old ones, and the requirements are stricter than those of Oeko-Tex standard1 100.
