Western Fashion Advocates "Chinese Style"
China has been an important source of inspiration for the fashion industry for a long time, the Financial Times reported. In fashion, the influence of Chinese style is enduring. China and its potential market have become an important target of Western brands.
Last October, Fendi Italy held a fashion show at the Great Wall in China. This fashion show starts with 88 gorgeous red costumes, ends with a set of black cheongsam, and the middle dress uses the "round" elements according to Karl Lagefeldt, the creative director.
Kerry Taylor, a senior fashion personage and antique fashion auctioneer, for example, said in 1790s, "Oriental style tea dress is indeed popular. This is a semi formal dress. Ladies will wear this dress when they meet guests."
In 1820s, another Chinese wind in the fashion industry was launched. This trend was led by French designer Jana Lanvin. Sarah Gian, a lecturer at London Fashion College, quoted the financial times as saying: "the Chinese wind is a wonderful idea of China's dream land. Everything in China is unique, luxurious and shocking." Dragons, butterflies, flowers, wide sleeves, standing collar and pagoda graphics are all manifestations of Chinese style.
Giorgio Armani, a famous designer in Italy, has always loved the use of Chinese elements in his works. The details of the new products this quarter reflect this. In the latest series of fashion, he used bright black tassel in his designs for jackets, ladies' wear and accessories. Armani said: "China is a place of extraordinary magic, and for us Westerners, it has a mythical charm."
